HANDCRAFTED ACRYLIC HOLDERS WITH SCREWS
The hand-crafted holders with screws are made for the collector who desires a distinctive environment for his or her possessions. They are made from quality, cast, acrylic plastic which will not fade or discolor. This acrylic does not contain any sulfur, acid, polyvinyl chloride or oily substances. These coin holders consist of three panels; one colored center panel called the center insert which contains the tapered coin openings and the printing, and two clear panels for the front and back called windows that protect the coins and permit their examination from the obverse and reverse. The paper money holders are made of two panels of clear acrylic. The panels of the hand-crafted acrylic holders are held securely together by a network of clear plastic screws and posts.
Assembly of all hand-crafted holders is made easier by the match mark. When assembling the holder, find the craftsman's match mark on each panel. The match mark is always on the edge on the upper right hand side of each panel. Arrange the panels so the match mark forms a straight line. The edge should then look like this match mark illustration. The panels on hand crafted holders are not interchangeable and will fit together best only one way.
MACHINE MADE
MOLDED HOLDERS WITH SCREWS AND SNAP TOGETHER CASES
The molded holders with screws as well as the snap together cases have the same basic properties as the hand-crafted acrylic holders. However, since these holders are at least partially machine made they are lower in price, easier to assemble and the parts are interchangeable. The obverse and the reverse of the coins are visible through both sides of the holder.
THE COIN OPENINGS
The coin openings are tapered and carefully sized to insure the accurate fit of most coins. Each coin holder is tested with coins or discs after the coin openings are made. When you are installing your coins be sure you are putting the right coin in the proper opening from the front side of the holder. Gently press the coin into the opening so the coin seats in the tapered side of the hole. All coins vary in size somewhat due to machine tolerances during the minting process. Generally, the older the coin the greater the differences in minting tolerances. Pre-1900 American coins, Foreign coins and Morgan Dollars tend to vary greatly in size.
