Hi, I am Dr Philippa McCaffery,
founder and creator of Clearskincare’s skin correction programmes. For many years, as a practising cosmetic physician, I have specialised in looking after patients with acne, acne scar, scar, pigmentation, sun damage and aging skin problems.
In answer to my patients needs for locally made effective and affordable acne and skincare products, I designed and created the Clearskincare skin correction programmes. The Clearskincare skin treatment medical devices were designed for acne treatment, acne scar, indented scar, aging (lines and wrinkles), pigmentation, sun damage skin treatment and hair restoration. Clearskincare Skin Rollers represent two years of research and development by Dr McCaffery, are the only rollers on the market under AUS160.00 that are designed to be reused and are listed with the TGA. The Clearskincare Skin rollers, comprise finest quality stainlees steel needles mounted in the highest quality autoclavable medical grade plastic roller and handle , to facilitate the performance of skin needling.

Skin Needling is a safe and highly effective non-surgical skin treatment for improving the appearance of acne scar, depressed surgical scar, chickenpox scar, skin graft scar, pigmented scar, deep facial lines in aging skin and facilitating hair restoration. The Clearskincare Skin roller homecare range consists of 2 rollers - the 0.75mm needle length Clearskincare Skin & Scalp Roller (96 & 48 needle versions) and the 0.3mm Clearskincare Face Roller (48 needle version only).
I designed the Clearskincare Roller range to maximise results for improving the appearance of acne scars, surgical, chicken pox and all indented scars lines, wrinkles, stretchmarks as well as thinning hair whilst minimising downtime and pain. Maximising results whilst minimising downtime and pain is achieved by the careful selection of needle length to target the specific areas of the epidermis and dermis to achieve these goals.
To achieve these desired results needle length and gauge are the most critical factors when selecting skin rollers. Clearslincare rollers use 0.25mm gauge needles, the thickest usable needle gauge to stimulate maximum collagen and elastin whilst not causing scarring. Thicker needles will cause scarring, unnecessary pain and bleeding, thinner needles will not stimulate enough collagen or elastin to be effective.
The Clearskincare Skin & Scalp Roller uses a 0.75mm needle length to target the upper dermis to stimulate collagen and elastin and significantly improve the absorption of skin products. The 0.75mm needle length was chosen to target the average depth of the upper dermis in both male and female skins on the face, scalp and body. A shorter needle will not pierce the upper dermis, longer needles will cause unnecessary pain and bleeding. The Clearskincare Skin & Scalp Roller comes in 2 sizes, 48 needle and 96 needle versions, the 96 needle version allows the user to roll twice the area of skin in half the amount of time. Both versions of the Clearskincare Skin & Scalp Roller were designed for and can be used for acne scars, surgical, chicken pox and all indented scars, advanced lines and wrinkles, stretchmarks as well as thinning hair.
The Clearskincare Face Roller uses a 0.3mm needle to pierce the stratum corneum and increase the absorption of skin products. The stratum corneum, located near the surface of the skin (in the epidermis) and consists of flattened dehydrated dying keratinocytes (skin cells), provides a semi permeable layer that protects the underlying skin and organs from the environment.
The majority of creams, lotions and serums applied to the skin is trapped on the surface by the stratum corneum and wasted. Products designed for treating the dermis (the skin layer underlying the epidermis) such as Vitamin A and C and copper peptides, to be effective, need to pass through the stratum corneum.
The Clearskincare Face Roller uses 0.3mm needles to create thousands of micro channels through the stratum corneum. The 0.3mm needles of Clearskincare Face Roller are long enough to pierce the average depth of the stratum corneum in male and female skin on the face, neck and decolletage. Shorter needles will not be long enough to pierce the stratum corneum, longer needles will cause unnecessary pain and bleeding. If you are using Vitamin A and or C creams or serums and or copper peptides or any product designed for the dermis, to maximise your results you should be using them in combination with the Clearskincare Face Roller.
Other rollers on the market were designed as disposable and use inferior needles and toothbrush grade plastics. They were designed by engineers who have no medical background or understanding of scar, anti aging skin treatment, hair loss or any understanding of human anatomy, hence their generic choices of needle lengths (0.25mm, 0.5mm, 1mm, 1.5mm, 2.5mm etc.).
