  2. My horse has torn his new rug. Can I return it?
Unfortunately, we have no control over how or when your horse may roll, itch, snare, rub and otherwise try to remove a horse rug or similar. Horses are large unpredictable animals and can easily damage an item in the first few days just as easily as they can 12 months down the track.

It is the buyer’s responsibility to ensure they are satisfied with the quality and fitness of purpose for the products they have purchased prior to using them. We recommend you check your rugs and products carefully and before using on your horse to satisfy yourself that they are of high quality and free from any manufacturing defects. We will not honour exchanges/replacements for any item that has been destroyed after having been used.

  3. How do I contact you?
We can be contacted by email at, via eBay Messages or by phone Mon-Fri between 9-5pm on 0437 834 540.

  4. How do I choose the correct size rug for my horse?
Please refer to our comprehensive Sizing Guide section. We provide size charts and recommend procedures to follow to aid you in choosing the correct fitting rug.

  5. All horses differ in size and shape just like we do. Because of this, the size charts should be used as a guide only.

  6. How do I avoid damage to my rug?
Damage to rugs is inevitable as horses are unpredictable and flighty animals. There are, however a number of things you can do to prevent damage from occurring:
    • Choose the correct size rug for your horse.Having your horse in a rug a size too small, may result in excessive pressure on chest buckles and the wither area. Having your horse in rug that is too large, may result in a rug that slips easily on/off your horse.

    • Ensure there are no dangling or loose fittings.

    • Make sure that the paddock the horse is in is free of barbed wire or anything that the horse could snag the rug on.

    • Tighten up the belly and leg straps so they do not tangle as rolling and running horses have been known to catch their legs in the straps and rip them away from the rug.

    • Follow the washing/care instructions.
  1. What are your policies?
ARK’s policies regarding returns and refunds conform to the regulations of the NSW Office of Fair Trading. A more comprehensive guide is available on our Terms and Conditions page.

  2. More questions?
If you have any further questions, we are more than happy to help. Please call 0437 834 540 or email us at or contact us via eBay Messages.

  3. If my horse develops rub marks, can I return my rug?
Choosing the correct rug size for your horse will ensure that you won't have any problems. If your horse has rub marks, something is usually wrong with the rug sizing you have chosen or your horse has non-standard features. Rub marks can be caused by a wide variety of issues out of our control. Some horses may need a bib to help alleviate the problem. All our rugs are fully lined to help prevent areas of pressure rubbing however, there is no guarantee that rub marks will not occur. A horse develops rub marks only after having used a rug and it is ARK’s policy to not accept refunds/exchanges on used items.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for WildHorse Insect Repellent Horse Rugs

  1. What is an Insect Repellent Rug?
Insect Repellent Rugs are revolutionary products designed to provide long-lasting, effective and convenient insect protection. The durable protection provided by Insect Repellent Horse Rugs is the result of years of research and testing—resulting in effective, odourless insect protection that lasts the expected lifetime of a rug.

  2. How do Insect Repellent Rugs work?
Permethrin acts as both an Insect Repellent and an Insecticide, depending on the insect. Some insects will not go near the treated product. Some may pass through the repellent zone and sit on the fabric. These insects will quickly become disorientated while the Permethrin acts on the neurological part of their brain that enables them to bite, blood suck and feed. Do not worry as they cannot do any harm to your horse in this state and it is only a matter of time before these insects move on and die. The time it takes for this to happen will vary, depending on the species - see knockdown test results and link to the video in the listing.

  3. How did Permethrin originate, and what are its uses?
Permethrin is a man-made version of a natural insect repellent found in certain chrysanthemum plants. The Insect Repellent process binds a Permethrin formula tightly to fabric fibres—resulting in effective, odourless insect protection that lasts the expected lifetime of apparel. Permethrin has been successfully used in the United States as an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered product since 1977, with an excellent safety record. It is used in lice shampoos for children, flea dips for dogs, and various other products, some of which are regulated by the FDA.

  4. Which insects does Insect Repellent Technology stop?
Insect Repellent Technology has been proven to repel mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, flies, midges and sandflies. The EPA requires extensive effectiveness data to prove a product's ability to repel insects. Many species and varieties of these insects have been tested, including those that can carry dangerous diseases. WildHorse products are individually put through rigorous testing for every different fabric type. The top ten most harmful insects of each species are tested by independent laboratories and must pass before EPA approval can be given.

  5. Is the Insect Shield Technology Tested and Proven?
WildHorse technology results from years of intensive research and field study. Numerous studies have confirmed the effectiveness of Permethrin-treated clothing as an insect repellent.

  6. Durability - How long will the fabric keep working?
Insect Repellent Technology treated products are exceptionally durable and unique because unlike other products, the treatment has been bonded deep into the fabric fibres, instead of just being sprayed on. By using this patent pending process, we eliminate having high initial concentrations that can have dangerous overdose effects, but then wash off in a short time with rain and perspiration. The permethrin in WildHorse treated products is EPA-registered to last through 25 launderings—the expected lifetime of a garment. However, even after this point, testing has shown that the fabrics can retain over 80% of their effectiveness. This is also well beyond the life of most performance finishes commonly used in the technical-apparel industry.

  7. How much protection is provided by Insect Repellent Technology?
In most cases, your Insect Repellent Technology horse rug will provide good protection. In heavily infested areas you can get increased protection by fitting your horse with Insect Repellent Technology leg protectors, which can help protect the lower legs and also help prevent ticks from crawling up onto your horse’s legs in heavily infested areas. Insect Repellent Technology treated Flymasks/Hoods are also recommended in high insect areas, as they are brilliantly designed for a great fit. The hood sits further back on your horse’s neck and helps protect all key areas for your horse.

  8. Which insects and bugs will Insect Repellent Horse Rugs repel?
Insect Repellent Rugs stop mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers and midges. The EPA requires extensive effectiveness data to prove the product's ability to repel these insects. Many species and varieties of ticks, mosquitoes, flies, etc., have been tested.

  9. Does Permethrin or Insect Repellent Clothing have an odour?
No. Insect Repellent Technology protection is odourless, colourless and does not change the feel of the garment.

  10. How do I care for the Insect Repellent Horse Rug?
Insect Repellent Gear provides effective protection against insects through 25 washings. Horsewear should be machine-washed separately in cold water using standard laundry detergent. You should not dry clean, as this will remove the permethrin (the active ingredient) from your horsewear, thereby reducing the insect repellent capabilities.

  11. So It really works!
Repellent Apparel and Gear are the most effective new tools launched in more than 50 years to help battle insects and insect-carried diseases such as West Nile virus, Malaria and Lyme disease.
