Taking Care Of Your Tie Dye Fashion With tie dye fashion being the latest trend. I am going to share with you some very good steps to taking care of the lovely tie dye garments that you can purchase from me. Because tie dye clothing is dyed after it has been made, there is a risk of you washing a fair bit of the lovely colour away in the first wash. So the first wash is definitely the most important one. A lot of people think that putting salt in the rinse water is an old wives tale. Old wives tales are often true and this one is true. So first wash – don’t use washing powder that has bleaching agents in them. Use mild washing powder that won’t strip the colour. For the first wash we are looking at locking the gorgeous colour in. Hand wash the garment in cold water (never use hot). After you have washed the garment pour 2 good table spoons of salt into the sink. Use a small amount of Hot water to melt salt, fill the rest with cold water. Water should now only be very mildly warm. Rinse garment thoroughly in this water, if you like to add fabric softener do that after adding the cold water. Preferably before adding garment. So now you have sealed the colour in! That does not mean that from now on you can wash it in hot water. Hot water and washing powder that contain bleaching agents will continue to strip the colours even after the first wash. Continue to wash your garment in cold water and washing powder for delicate items. Doing this will make your garment look fabulous for a very long time. And please do not hang garment in the hot midday sun. So go ahead enjoy these fabulous Tie dye dresses and pants. |
